Department Description: The Global RFP Group is responsible for creating the documents which articulate J.P. Morgan' Asset Management's unique value proposition and brand commitments to clients around the world. This team works closely with our Product, Client Portfolio Manager and Client Advisor partners to create, curate and maintain Requests for Proposal (RFPs)*, Requests for Information (RFIs) and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs). The Global RFP Group plays a key role in both the acquisition of new business and the retention of valuable existing clients, through the completion of RFPs, RFIs, DDQs and other written client materials. The Global RFP Group was created in early 2014 (building from a previously regional structure) in order to: Establish global consistency ·Ensure a high and consistent global standard of quality ·Measure and drive client satisfaction and a consistent client experience (*An RFP is a proposal or questionnaire that a potential client issues to asset management firms when tendering for new business in order to thoroughly understand how these firms manage client assets. It is typically the first formal stage of the sales process in the institutional and wholesale segments of the investment management industry). Role Description: An opportunity has arisen for a Request for Proposal (RFP) Writer to be based in New York, as part of the wider JPMAM Global RFP Group. This team is responsible for responding to detailed RFPs, RFIs and DDQs from Institutional and Wholesale clients and distributors of JPMAM's products and services. This role has a particular focus on Alternatives, and offers the opportunity to learn in-depth about JPMAM's comprehensive range of Global Alternative strategies and funds, in what is a major asset class for the firm; as well as the needs of different client types. However, there is scope to learn about other asset classes and products over time, and candidates are expected to be flexible in this respect, so as to be able to respond to fluctuations in client demand and workload between product areas and RFP teams, and support team colleagues during periods of high demand. Our RFP Team Leaders and Writers work closely with Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs) who are experienced specialists in their respective asset classes and are responsible for reviewing all product content in RFPs and other documents. They also need to collaborate extensively with colleagues and partners in other departments across the firm, both locally and globally. This position also offers a short-medium term potential opportunity to lead and develop a small, focused team, in the creation and delivery of client materials to a diverse client and stakeholder base, and to operate as part of a truly global and collaborative wider RFP team. Role and Responsibilities: ·Creation of accurate, compelling and client-focused RFP responses ·Maintenance of product profiles and investment process language; organization of RFP language in the department's proposal software system (PMAPS) ·Overall responsibility for production and internal distribution of draft and final version RFPs and other client documents ·Responses to other RFIs from prospective clients and consultants ·Development of strong, effective, two-way working relationships with key stakeholders, including Global Institutional and Global Funds Sales teams and Client Portfolio Managers, who are responsible for reviewing and approving RFPs for their clients ·Supervision and coaching of RFP Writer colleagues in absence of manager ·Gaining quickly a broad knowledge of the structure and operations of the firm; and the range of investment services and vehicles offered by JPMAM, in order to fulfill all of the above ·Collaboration with colleagues in JPMAM offices globally ·Interfacing with many business partners who will help in providing data and answering questions more thoroughly (e.g., Sales teams, Portfolio Analysis Group, Client Portfolio Managers, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Finance, Trading and other departments) ·Building an understanding of clients' differing needs and levels of sophistication, in order to tailor responses to the target audience ·Participation in other activities relevant to the new business process and the department function ·Rigorous adherence (by self and team) to approved review, compliance and record-keeping procedures ·Implementation of processes to control and, where possible, improve production and ‘win'/'success' rates of RFPs completed by the team
Desired profile
·Prior experience of writing or participating in the RFP process, preferably in the asset management industry ·Strong understanding of Alternative investments desired (including but not limited to hedge funds, private equity and real estate) ·Confidence to work directly with stakeholders at all levels, both to ensure their RFP service needs are met, and to partner with them to agree priorities and deadlines ·Excellent writing skills in English ·Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written ·Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail ·Strong numeracy ·Ability to work under pressure, and with flexibility, to meet tight deadlines ·Organization, prioritization and multi-tasking skills ·Management/supervisory and workload management skills ·Ability to work as part of a global team, as well as on own initiative ·Strong work ethic and positive attitude ·Sensitivity to different cultures and working styles ·Ability to tailor responses to client questions and create new written material ·Ability to assimilate detailed information relatively quickly ·Ability to gain quickly a broad knowledge of the range of assigned JPMAM investment products, in order to succeed in the role ·Responsive to client requests ·Genuine passion for learning about our business and investment products ·Genuine interest in the presentation and customization of completed documents ·Financial market awareness and understanding of basic financial concepts ·Awareness of business risk and compliance procedures ·Leadership skills: demonstrates a professional, positive and mature attitude at all times; displays J.P.
