Job Spec:

We are looking for a London-based Investment Analyst/Junior Portfolio Manager to join Quantitative Beta Strategies (QBS) within JP Morgan Asset Management London. QBS is part of the Beta Strategies and is responsible for managing and developing a suite of quantitatively-driven, factor-based portfolios across all asset classes. This includes Alternative Beta as well as Strategic Beta portfolios in equity and fixed income.

Job Description

The primary function of this role is supporting the day-to-day portfolio management of all types of Alternative beta and strategic beta strategies. This position will have extensive interaction and collaboration with investment professionals in other parts of the firm. The role will also include involvement in ongoing quantitative research into factor-based investment strategies.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Providing implementation support across all existing funds, including segregated accounts, mutual funds and ETFs.
• Analyzing and monitoring portfolio risk, exposure and performance on daily basis
• Following up with Corporate Action & Tax queries for portfolio holdings
• Performing ad hoc analysis on portfolios and investment strategies
• Working with Client Portfolio Managers to deliver periodic client reports, ad-hoc client queries and RFPs
• Researching into new ideas and investment strategies
• Working closely with the technology team to enhance our portfolio management systems and infrastructure

• Ambitious self-starter, proven ability to perform in a collaborative team environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly developed quantitative and analytical skills and a strong academic background
• Ability to tackle statistical analysis independently using excel and desk tools
• Candidate should have strong verbal and written communications skills and be able to present results to both expert and non-expert audiences
• Knowledge of Trading Systems (e.g. Osiris, Thinkfolio)
• Ability to perform well under pressure and deliver within tight deadlines
• Knowledge of VBA, MATLAB and SQL Programming is an advantage
• Experience of factor investing and smart beta investing is an advantage
• Ability to undertake quantitative research projects both independently and collaboratively
• Strong investment interest and desire to learn (e.g. willingness to work towards CFA charter)
