Role Description: The successful candidate will join an Agile Delivery Team responsible for producing fixes and enhancements for a complex, distributed financial messaging platform. This is a ‘hands on' technical role, where, in addition to the development of code, the role also encompasses the management and deployment of code releases, the planning and delivery of Production implementations and support for the Production system. The development of good working relationships is essential where the candidate will be expected to work closely with the Architecture, Business Analyst, Test and Technology Infrastructure teams throughout the various stages of the development and implementation lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: ·Documenting design solutions for new functionality and defect fixes within a WebMethods and Java based SWIFT FIN messaging system. ·Developing and Unit Testing custom code in WebMethods and Java and configuring and deploying third party components. ·Designing, developing and supporting across the following application layers: Database; Middleware; Backend; User Interface ·Working in partnership with a paired Tester to deliver high quality, tested and documented changes. ·Performing root cause analysis for Defects and identifying the required fixes. ·Code packaging and release management. ·Implementation planning: Documenting and coordinating with Project Managers and Technology Infrastructure teams. ·Running the implementation of code releases to Production. ·Participation in the Production Support On-Call System and handling Production Support queries. ·Supporting the migration of clients from the old mainframe systems onto the SWIFTBus application – Building and validating configuration and providing technical guidance.

Desired profile

Candidate Background: ·You will have strong development skills with a background in an object oriented distributed technology stack, including Java, WebMethods, MQ, Oracle and Unix / Linux. ·You will have experience working on a large scale Financial Services Messaging Platform. ·You will have previous experience working with middleware applications including MQ and Messaging Broker based systems. ·You will have an understanding of the SWIFT FIN Service and SWIFT FIN products such as SAA, SAG and ARKELIS. ·You will have experience in working with the Java Messaging Service (JMS) and XML Message Formats. ·You will have experience designing and developing user interface components for the web. ·You will have strong configuration and release management skills with knowledge of Subversion and Maven. ·You will have a good understanding of the Software Delivery Lifecycle, with experience working within an Agile Delivery Team being desirable. ·You will have strong communication and team work skills and a delivery focused approach to work. ·You will be a thorough and logical thinker with an eye for detail and the ability to solve problems. ·You should have experience of high availability architecture designs in an active-active application model. ·You should have a good understanding of the principles of application security. ·You should have experience in using JIRA and HP ALM to managing workload and defects. ·You should have experience working with the following applications and technologies: WebMethods 8 / 9.5, Java, SQL - Oracle 11G RAC, XML, SWIFT, UNIX, Solaris 10, Linux, IBM WebSphere MQ, Tomcat, Apache, SSL security, VCS clustering, HP ALM, JIRA, ITKO LISA.
