Job description

J Edward Sellars, based in Clevedon near Bristol, has been providing Stockbroking and Financial Advice to private clients in the South West since 1975.

We are currently in a stage of expansion and are looking to strengthen our Financial Planning division. The successful candidate will report to James Morris, Head of Private Wealth.

Summary of role:

As a Trainee Financial Advisor you will be involved in all aspects of dealing with our clients. You will become the first point of contact for non-advice based queries and as you progress you will be expected to build relationships and trust with clients in preparation for you becoming a Financial Advisor.

You will take part in client meetings as well as internal meetings gaining both knowledge and experience over time. You will also be expected to deal with the administration aspect of varied advice based cases. You will be expected to gain competency within the financial planning and investment World, we in turn will provide you with mentoring support and pay for the exams and professional registration required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients both electronically and over the telephone.
  • Act as the initial point of contact with clients for non-advice issues.
  • Work closely with a Financial Planner, keeping them up to date with relevant information relating to client issues.
  • Gather client information and update systems with client data.
  • Organise day to day client administration including valuations.
  • Preparation of information as requested by the Financial Planner.
  • Work within FCA compliance guidelines.

Essential skills and experience:

This is not an exclusive or exhaustive list but should include:

  • Previous Financial/Para planning experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A good telephone manner.
  • Comfort in use of Microsoft Office products.
  • English and Mathematics literacy.
  • The drive and ambition to succeed.

Starting Salary:

£17,000.00-£22,000.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
