We are looking for an entry level Linux admin who has tinkered with Linux and wants to learn a lot more in a fast-paced environment.
Linux Administrators manage state-of-the-art servers and networking equipment in our datacenters. Responsibilities are broad and include hardware and software installation and configuration, remote administration, tool development, monitoring, performance tuning, testing new hardware and software, and planning changes. We are jacks-of-all-trades who can effectively multitask yet retain a high attention to detail that keeps our systems running as efficiently as possible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- System backups and recovery, maintain user accounts and data files, monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity, install hardware and software, conduct system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software and security related problems.
- Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
- Manages IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, etc. (Linux servers / Windows 2008R2 server /routers and switches )
- Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
- Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Fluent speaking, listening, reading and writing in English
Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems (at least 2 years’ experience)
Familiarity with systems configuration management and monitoring technologies
Understanding of network protocols and file systems
Experience installing and troubleshooting server hardware
We don't expect you to have all the required knowledge when you join us as many of these skills can be picked up through experience in the job, but those who do need to learn new skills must be prepared to spend time doing suitable research to ensure their grounding is thorough and properly understood.
Importantly, our administrators must have a solid understanding of the current products and processes they must be eager and quick to learn, be clear communicators and must be able to use their initiative to tackle a broad range of problems.
