Job description

International Motor Sports (IMS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Motor Sports Association (MSA), the national governing body of UK motor sport, responsible for the sport's governance & administration, as well as controlling the technical and sporting rules.

IMS is responsible for the organisation and promotion of some of Britain's flagship motor sport properties, including the British Grand Prix in F1, Wales Rally GB in the WRC, the entire MSA British Rally Championship, as well as the annual MSA Spring Classic & other touring events for classic cars.

IMS is offering an opportunity for two motivated graduates to undertake a six-month paid internship with the company. Based at Motor Sports House, Colnbrook, the posts offer a great opportunity to apply relevant qualifications & develop their experience within the motor sport event management environment. Both vacancies are 6 month fixed term contracts with an approx. start date of mid-May and end date of mid-November.

Main duties & responsibilities (including but not limited to):

- Becoming an integral team member to support the planning, organisational & administrative delivery of IMS’s events, including Wales Rally GB & the British Grand Prix
- Providing pre-, on & post-event support to ensure the smooth running of IMS’s events
- Assisting the IMS team to develop IMS’s events to help meet the needs of our customers & potential future customers
- Completing supporting tasks relating to the events including; obtaining quotes for services & goods, completing Purchase Order requests, diary management & booking of venues
- Call handling & email queries
- Liaison with contractors, suppliers & volunteers
- Supporting the promotion of the Wales Rally GB marketing programme including the Marketing Activity Plan & Communications Plan
- Monitoring weekly ticket sales
- Assist in the planning & delivery of the VIP hospitality programme

The successful candidates will also possess:
- Good written & communications skills with an excellent command of the English language
- Competent IT skills, fully conversant with Microsoft Office (in particular Excel)
- Enthusiastic & motivated to work on a range of projects
- Good attention to detail
- Full & valid driving licence
- Willing to work unsociable hours when required (some evening & weekend work attending motorsports events)

The successful candidates would also ideally possess:
- Understanding of or interest in motorsport
- Some experience of working in the event management or motor sport industry
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Knowledge of the Welsh language
