Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Projec Engineer to work with the MOD on a contract basis. The position will be based in HMNB Clyde (Helensburgh) for an initial contract until May 2016 offering up to £280 per day LTD company.

Due to the nature of the client candidates with a current SC Clearance are highly desirable.

Background:

In compliance with legal requirements, the HMG Security Policy Framework and the Cabinet Office Information Assurance Governance Framework, established the MOD CIS Resilience Policy and Recovery Strategy.

The Site Coordinating Installation Design Authorities, are delegated by Defence CIDA, to ensure that all MOD CIS installations are available, flexible and economical, whilst maintaining confidentiality, integrity and resilience of the data (JSP604, Lft 480) The SCIDA function is to ensure that the full benefits of Physical and Environmental Configuration Management for MOD CIS are delivered across locations documented in the SCIDA agreement or contract.

Wherever CIS equipment is installed, correct procedures should be followed regarding CIDA assurance, since any unauthorised engineering changes to MOD CIS infrastructure presents a varying degree of risk to Data Assurance, Communications Security and Health and Safety. All changes must be documented through an Engineering Change Request (ECR) and subject to Installation Approval being granted by CIDA or a delegated authority of CIDA. This requirement is satisfied through the issue of a Certificate of Installation Conformance (ECR5).

Key Tasks:

Advice and Guidance on installation standards in JSP 604, (Lft 4800), JSP 440 and SDIP 29.

Design approval and Certification of finished installation.

Engineering Change Request process through the ECR stages

Updating master AutoCad drawings to capture engineering change

Experience Required:

We are looking for an engineer with a communications or networks background. Previous SCIDA experience or previous IDA roles would be a distinct advantage.

Must have completed the IDA course at RAF Henlow and be familiar with TEMPEST theory and preferably attended the TEMPEST seminar at Digby or CESG. AutoCad skills will also be necessary, although for the short term this will not be essential.
