Job description
This position is for a System and Applications Administrator in the High Performance Data Division (HPDD) at Intel. We are seeking a self-starter, highly motivated person to support software development applications and clustered computing environments. This position also requires working with Intel Federal on some government contracts.
Responsibilities:
Maintain, support, configure and troubleshoot externally developed application used by the High Performance Data Division (HPDD) which includes (but not limited to): jira, wiki, git/gerrit, jenkins, freeipa, chef and cobbler.
Work closely with the build and tools teams to troubleshoot and solve issues
Purchase hardware/equipment for HPDD
Develop and maintain documentation pertinent to this position and in accordance with Intel standards
Monitor and resolve hardware issues
Maintain Intel required security on all HPDD servers
Bring up and make modifications of clusters to support software development
Support and maintain build environment
Assists HPDD employees on using the different HPDD clusters
Researches and recommends different solutions to issues/improvements
Investigate tools/processes that would make things more efficient.
System administration skills: hardware troubleshooting, ssh, DNS, DHCP, NFS, autofs, networking (ethernet, ib), pxe booting, grub, patching, backups, virtualization, user management, console management, support lab outages
Implementing and improving upon existing automation for cluster set up and other manual processes.
Desired profile
Required Qualifications:
Must be a legal permanent US resident (Citizen or Green Card) and must physically reside in the US.
Bachelor's Degree and 3+ year experience as a system and applications administrator or equivalent years of experience
Experience as a Linux/Unix system administrator including scripting
Experience designing, implementing, administering, troubleshooting and maintaining production and staging infrastructure environments
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with managing KVM/libvirt virtual clusters
Experience with continuous integration tools (jenkins)
Understanding and experience with automated provisioning tools (Cobbler) and configuration management tools (chef)
Experience with revisions control software (GIT/Gerrit)
Experience supporting collaboration software (wiki, jira)
Experience creating internal documentation
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with databases and comfortable using SQL
Experience coding/scripting in Python and Ruby
Experience in implementing monitoring tools
