The Perceptual Computing (PerC) Group of Intel Corporation is looking to fill the position of Systems Applications Engineer to work on new and unannounced prototypes utilizing next-generation sensor systems.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional C/C++ software engineer with unbounded motivation to dive into new and unfamiliar codebases across both custom projects and commercial game engines including Unity, Unreal, and Lumberyard.

The candidate will work in a highly-collaborative studio-like atmosphere to produce interactive prototypes and demos.

Responsibilities

·  Synthesize creative ideas at the interaction of the Lab's current directions and lead development of application-level prototypes.
·  Implement non-trivial systems involving aggressive real-time rendering constraints, physics simulation, animation, 2d/3d user interfaces, gameplay scripting, networking, and asset import.
·  Develop connective layers between native C/C++ SDKs and game engines
·  Champion visual fidelity and graphics optimization
·  Fearlessly dive into others' codebases to support team-wide debugging and execution.
·  Mentor junior-level engineers

Perceptual Computing (PerC) is an organization within Intel tasked with the research, development, and productization of technologies for Natural User Interaction, encompassing both human to machine and human to human experiences. PerC aims to build technologies that would help users to have natural, immersive and intuitive interaction with computers through not only touch interface but also through hand gestures, voice and video. The objective of PerC is to explore consumer-focused hardware and software applications of close-range hand and finger gestures, speech recognition, face recognition and tracking, augmented reality and more.

Desired profile

●Exceptionally strong engineering competency in C/C++
●Mathematical thinker with broad experience in geometric and linear algebra
●Experience with one or more modern low-level graphics APIs (OpenGL 4, DirectX 11, Vulkan)●Desire to work in a creatively flexible atmosphere with nascent algorithms and hardware prototypes●BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related
Nice to Have
●An eye for design and interaction in the context of virtual reality applications
●Familiarity with 3D camera systems and their associated math (projection, etc)
●Some fluency in Technical Artist skills including 3D asset management and import
