Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division SPPD is currently looking for a Silicon Photonic Component Design Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for designing and developing passive photonic components such as optical mux/de-mux, optical coupler/splitter, and spot size convertor, and waveguide polarization beam splitter/rotator which will be monolithically integrated with other active optical components in a silicon photonic transmitter chip. Responsibilities include device design and simulation, test-chip layout design, process design, device evaluation and characterization, and documentation of specifications. He/she will also play an important role in evaluating and determining transmitter chip integration architecture/platform and closely collaborate with process integration engineer for the integrated chip development. This position will be multi-task oriented. You must have an excellent track record in passive optical device design, modeling and simulation, and testing. Be willing to work in a team environment and be able to communicate results with multiple levels of the organization. Position Minimum Requirement- Must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optoelectronics, Optics, Physics, and similar technical discipline- Minimum 4 years of post-graduate experience in the design, fabrication, and characterization of optical mux/de-mux such as AWG and Echelle grating, optical coupler/spot size convertor for single-mode laser and/or fiber coupling, and waveguide polarization beam splitter/rotator on SOI platform- Expert level in using optical simulation tools such as Beamprop, Fullwave, Fimmwave, Fimmprop, Lumerical FDTD /Mode solutions, Zemax, etc. - Solid understand of photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductor physics and device physics- Excellent writing and communication skillsPreferred additional qualifications- Semiconductor process knowledge such as Lithography, Implant, Wet Etch and Dry Etch - 3+ years of experience in integrated photonic chip design and characterization, particularly in Silicon Photonics- 3+ years of experience in high-speed device development and waveguide-fiber coupling - 5+ years of experience in integration platform such as SiN/Si system and SiON/Si system
