Job description
This internship position is responsible for working with a product architecture team to explore new architectural and micro architectural features to improve microprocessor cores.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Conceptualizing and modeling features for Intel's next-generation cores
* Running simulation-based experiments to generate and evaluate new ideas
* Working in the architecture system lab when appropriate to gather data from existing hardware
* Interacting and communicating with architects to achieve goals
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
Desired profile
Minimum Requirements:
* Candidate must be pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
* Candidate must have a total of 20 months of work or educational experience in the following areas:
- Computer architecture, including graduate level coursework and a major class project relevant to computer architecture.
- Programming in C/C++.
- High-level modeling of CPU cores, core components (e.g. caches), or systems.
- Assembly language programming or code generation.
Preferred:
* Research publications or other exposure to computer architecture literature through reading groups, conference reviews, etc.
* Previous internships in CPU product architecture.
* Knowledge of Intel Architecture ISA.
* Familiarity with compilers and low-level software optimization.
* Presentation and organizational skills.
