Job description
This is a unique opportunity to join the Influencer Sales Group (ISG) team within Sales and Marketing Group (SMG). Data Scientist is responsible for architectural exploitation and design alternatives for data analytics in telecom and datacenter world. Solution Architect assists in providing technical support for one or many product(s) and/or product family(s). Responsibilities may include: participating in new product development, representing customers' technical requirements, creating competitive analysis from a technical perspective, developing and presenting technical training materials.
As a data scientist in ISG, the individual designs systems with predictive modeling, statistics, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore, and extract insights from structure and unstructured data. As an architect, the individual understands the needed software, algorithms and applications to apply mathematics to data, perform large scale experimentation and build data driven apps to translate data into intelligence, solve a variety of business problems and enable business strategy.
They will guide business with casual inferences & observations with finding patterns, relationships in data. He/she must possess strong understanding of internal business segment (stakeholders) and possess strong written and communication skills. The data scientist, typically, requires expertise in relational database structures, research methods, machine learning, cloud-based technologies, Big Data technologies (i.e. Hadoop , HBase, Lucene/Solr), analytics packages (i.e. R, Mahout, Matlab, Octave, Weka), scripting languages (i.e. Python, Perl), programing languages (i.e. Java, C/C++, SQL). He/she possesses advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operation Research, and Statistics or equivalent expertise.
Desired profile
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires a combination of broad technical skills across hardware and software in embedded systems and technical domain expertise in networking.
10+ years of experience in analytics. High performance individual with demonstrated ability to manage extremely complex projects with tight deadline
An advance degree desired (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant technical field (Statistics, Mathematics, Decision Science, Operational Research, or Computer Science).
Strong proven experience applying various data analysis techniques using multiple data sources and relying on sound statistical methodology (text mining, segmentation/clustering, predictive modeling, etc.)
Additional Preferred Profile Characteristics
Experience in Requirements Engineering, Solution Architecture, Design, Development and Deployment,
Expert in big data analytics, and Hadoop including high availability, infrastructure planning, capacity planning, design patterns, etc.
Experience using one or more statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, SAS, etc.).
Experience with Visualization tools: Tableau, Splunk, Qlik, etc.
Expertise with different cloud storage: Cassandra, HBase, Ceph, etc.
Expertise with different databases (SQL & NoSQL): mongoDB, PostgreSQL, mysql, riak, etc.
