The internship candidate will be joining an advanced wireless aerial communication research team within the Wireless Communications Research organization in Intel Labs. The candidate is expected to conduct research on advanced technologies for future drone a.k.a. UAVs communications and control, aligned with 4G/5G development. Research responsibilities will include PHY and MAC design and protocol optimization/evaluation in addressing the special challenges in aerial communications. The intern is expected to develop and benchmark performance of various protocols and algorithms.

Desired profile

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Desired qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Advanced PhD student in Electrical or Computer Engineering with communications systems background.

Fluency in developing simulations of advanced communications systems.

Experience with system simulations using Matlab, C/C++, and/or Python.

Foundation in communication theory and optimization.

Past experience with aerial communications is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Past internship or industry project work experience is highly preferred .

Prior experience with one or more advanced technology areas such as system control & optimizations, machine learning is preferred.

Familiarity with 3GPP/WLAN wireless standards and practical implementation skills are desirable. Prior experience with communication/control technologies for drones are desirable.
