This is a unique opportunity for a Linux / Desktop Support Engineer with technical expertise in Linux systems, desktop and mobile operating systems to provide 1st/2nd line support for a world leading and truly international scientific research organisation headquartered in Germany. You will help support 1000 + Linux, MacOs and Windows devices with particular emphasis on Linux users, and in addition to current standard desktop packages, you will be experienced in automating systems and software installations.

Responsibilities of the Linux / Desktop Support Engineer:

• Extensive practical experience in supporting a complex environment of desktops and mobile devices for a 1000+ users using Linux, Mac OS and Windows.
• Supporting the Linux users will be a preference for this IT Support Engineer.
• Provide IT support with systems and software installations and troubleshooting software / hardware issues for desktop computing and mobile devices.
• Provide efficient support to the company`s users in a professional and customer focused manner.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the organisations IT infrastructure, the users experience and the support process as well as identifying areas, which would benefit from further standardisation and / or automation.

The successful Linux / Desktop Support Engineer will have the following level of experience & skills:

• A minimum of 2 years work experience in a professional IT support organisation or able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
• A technical expert in managing a number of the latest desktop and mobile operating systems with extensive experience in supporting Linux systems
• Need to be confident / familiar with "state of the art" technologies to integrate desktop and mobile systems within an enterprise IT environment and to facilitate i.e.: the access to the network, file systems and email.
• Good communication skills in English and the ability to deal with users of all levels: face-to-face as well as via telephone or email.
• The role requires occasional weekend duties which will be compensated accordingly.

In return you can expect to receive a net salary in the region of €3.300 net per month plus additional living allowances, excellent benefits and relocation packages.
