Enterprise Architect with focus on Data Architecture
Netherlands Architecture / Town planning
Job description
ING is looking to recruit an Enterprise Architect with focus on Data Architecture within the C&G Enterprise Architecture team, reporting to the Chief Architect C&G.
Your work environment
The C&G Enterprise Architecture team is a small head office function supporting the C&G countries with execution of and alignment with Bank strategy and global initiatives, focusing on business, application and IT architecture. The focus areas are channels, middleware, core banking engines, databases, IT infrastructure and common of the shelve software packages. There is close cooperation with the local IT teams and CIO's in the C&G countries and the head office functions.
C&G as a department supports the challengers and growth countries. Challengers are those franchises whose retail activities are mainly in the form of direct banking services which give them a cost advantage over traditional banks. ING is expanding its banking services with payments accounts, consumer lending and SMEs. Challengers include Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, France and Austria.
Growth Markets are those markets where ING offers a full range of Retail and Wholesale Banking services in strongly expanding economies that offer good growth opportunities. Investments in these countries to achieve sustainable market share will concentrate on converging to direct first and on innovation to achieve digital leadership. These include Poland, Romania, Turkey and strategic positions in Thailand and China.
Job description
Effective use of information technology is a key factor in supporting the continued success and sustainability of ING. C&G countries are investing strategically in innovative IT solutions to provide efficient and effective support for the business. The C&G EA team has a crucial role to play in this regard, being involved in all kinds of projects from head office and the countries such as upgrade of core banking systems, renewal of channels, roll-out of data lake and even building new retail entities.
The architect can be assigned to projects with a broad scope (business, application and infra) which demands a broad experience as an enterprise architect. The specific demand for a background in data architecture is to overlook and engage in all projects where data (modelling) is needed. He / She should strive for harmonization of data models and knowledge sharing between the countries and head office. A major program for example is the roll-out of a Data Lake, to which countries should connect in the near future. But also in other projects there is a strong need for data architecture skills.
Key focus areas
· Design data models and definitions, aligning between business units.
· Complete data assessments to audit for key data elements needed to support data model designs (e.g. core database in systems of record).
· Design ETL processes to collect data and trigger the transformations.
· Document the data architecture and model configuration in order to maintain a current and accurate view of the data models within C&G.
· Identify and develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.
· Liaise with (local) architecture team members to help select and/or prioritize the appropriate data sources based on data assessments and business goals set forth by the business.
Who we are looking for?
You have a strong background and proven track record in enterprise and specifically data architecture, preferably in an international context. You will need to have ambitious targets for your achievements and be able to share your positive energy with your business partners across C&G and the Bank. You must have outstanding social skills and the capacity to communicate effectively in an international environment. Collaboration and facilitation skills are key in this role. You must be transparent and able to facilitate discussions and alternative solutions.

· Analytics environments and data warehouse data models

While not necessarily deep in all of these technologies, the architect is experienced in one or more, and must understand them sufficiently to guide the organization in understanding and adopting them.
· Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture. When the architect initiates, evaluates, and influences projects he or she does so from the perspective of the entire organization. The architect maps the systems and interfaces used to manage data, sets standards for data management, analyses current state and conceives desired future state, and conceives projects needed to close the gap between current state and future goals.
