The Company
ING is a global financial institution with a strong European base, offering banking services.

The Department
The UK Human Resources Department encompasses HR Relationship Managers who support our various business functions within Commercial Banking, HR Operations (consisting of Client Services, Payroll and HR Projects), and specialist teams of International HR and pensions.

The Internship Programme
The internship programme is more than just a role within the HR department. Alongside your colleagues on the internship programme you will be required to participate in organising charity and social events that take place in the bank. You will also gain insightful knowledge about Commercial banking which will enable you to lay the foundations for a professional future career. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will want to get involved with all aspects of the programme.

The role
9 month paid internship programme running from 07 September 2015 to 29 July 2016.

How you can expect to spend your day
HR Administration
• Responsible for the complete lifecycle of certain areas of administration (eg joiners/resignations/contractual change/work experience etc).
• HR information system (HR i-sys) input to complete own casework - joiners/resignations/contractual changes/leave/work experience etc.
• Organising mid-probation meetings and managing the probation end administration.
• Organising exit interview meetings with the Relationship Managers and preparing all documentation involved in the leaver procedure.
• Preparing and checking employment, mortgage, tenancy and visa references on a rota basis.
• HR information system input for temporary employees, non-employees, sickness and training, and checking the rest of the teams input.
• Support of the Success System appraisal process.
• Running and preparing adhoc and monthly reports using the Webi application as and when required.
• Fielding calls and answering queries on all HR related policies and procedures and checking and responding to emails in the CS team group inbox on a rota basis.
• Assisting with CS team projects as and when required.

General Administration
• Opening and distributing the HR departments post and ordering departmental stationery.
• Managing diary appointments and carrying out adhoc administration tasks for the UK Head of HR
• Managing diary appointments for HR relationship managers, book meeting rooms and take minutes at meetings, if required.
• Scanning all joiner and leaver files and other adhoc scanning. Also some general photocopying and archiving.
• Getting involved in the monthly intern product sessions and ‘meet the manager’ sessions.
• Thinking off good ideas for charity events for the London office and taking them on and making them happen!

Desired profile

Ideally we are looking for someone who has already developed an interest in HR and is studying towards a human resources or business studies qualification. The person will be enthusiastic and a self-starter. We are happy to offer this role to someone who is looking to gain some experience in the field either part way through or having just finished their studies and looking for their first role in HR.
Other attributes we are looking for:
• Good PC skills, including a working knowledge of Word, Excel & Outlook
• A professional and confident manner
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Approachable and friendly
• An organised and detailed orientated individual
• A team player who has the ability to develop strong relationships with clients, candidates and colleagues. Someone who will also play a big part in the intern team and represent HR well.
