Job description
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
• You have post-secondary education in accounting or a relevant field.
• You have between 2 to 3 years of proven experience in indirect and/or direct tax preparation.
• You have experience a tax-specific role at a public accounting firm or industry.
• You have a thorough understanding of local tax jurisdictions and Canadian tax regulations and principles.
• You have keen attention to details and are able to effortlessly juggle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and reaching organizational
goals.
• You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and can translate your knowledge into system landscapes and tax
matters to people with different backgrounds in a changing and complex environment.
• You are self-motivated and have a passion for tax technical upskilling and research.
• You have a strong grasp of technology including Microsoft Office and you are skilled in Excel. Experience in advanced functions and macros
would be an asset.
Your responsibilities
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of the corporate income tax returns, sales tax returns and all other reports to local and central authorities.
• Comply to country tax strategy in line with the relevant Group Policies, Strategies and Business Plans, after consultation with Group Tax.
• Ensure control in respect of Direct and Indirect tax obligations, risks and opportunities, by implementing and maintaining the IKEA Group Tax Control Framework.
• Prepare the local Transfer Pricing documentation in liaison with Group Tax.
• Ensure correct application for and timely submission of forms to obtain tax treaty relief for Withholding Tax on Franchise Fee, Interest, Dividends and other relevant payments.
• Assist the local finance organization on any relevant tax matters.
• Provide input to the relevant stakeholders, including Group Tax, on opportunities to optimize the existing Ingka Canada legal structure and business set-up and how to structure new investments.
• Ensure accurate and compliant output of automated tax relevant solutions.
• Handle tax audits, where relevant in cooperation with Group Tax.
• Ensure availability of books and records in accordance with local legal requirements.
• Ensure relevant tax competence, knowledge and awareness amongst team members and other relevant staff.
• Participate in local and/or global projects and provide relevant input.
