Software Engineering in IKEA – Be Part of the Digital Transformation
Malmö, SWEDEN
Job description
We are looking for passionate engineers who are excited about technology and innovative ways of working and want to be a part of shaping the future of IKEA!
You could say that we are the longest running start up in town, you will have probably heard of us but you may not think of ‘big tech’ when you hear our name. More like BILLY bookcase. But check our INGKA Technology Radar at https://techradar.ingka.com/ and know that we incorporate the best tech out there to help reach our millions of customers worldwide.
Are you wondering about a big company structure? We work in agile, small & personal engineering teams so everyone has a voice and it is the best environment to grow in!
It is easy to get carried away writing about what we like to see in candidate’s tech skills and experience when we are writing our job ads… we are looking across so many tech stacks, disciplines and technical areas. We want engineers and creatives, not robots (maybe you can make robots). We want people that are happy to be part of a big family, but that like to be different to make positive change and are passionate about making a difference to your colleagues and our customers.
To be successful as an Engineer you have experience in working in an Agile and DevOps working set-up, you get energized by delivering high quality software as well as contributing to our Engineering culture. Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Applying software engineering practices (e.g. DRY principles, TDD and BDD, continuous integration, automated tests, pair programming, code reviews) within an agile/iterative development approach
- Providing support and guidance as needed to other developers within the development team encouraging good practices
- Continuous development of standards and exploring new technologies to boost innovation and development productivity
- Working closely with other software engineers and cross functions to produce design specifications and ensure that digital solutions work together and fulfil business needs
But most of all, what we really want, is great people to make up diverse and fun teams that share our values and push us all to be our best!
The IKEA culture and values are the heart of our business and day to day work life, to thrive and grow with IKEA it’s important for us that you share our values! You can read more at www.ikea.com.

Our primary concern since the outbreak of coronavirus has been the health and safety of our co-workers and candidates. Because of this we have adapted our recruiting process to be fully digital.
We’re the ones who make it possible for people to have a smarter life at home and a hassle-free and rewarding shopping experience. Together we work to find new digital solutions for every business need to help make IKEA a great and efficient place to work. We like to think of ourselves as innovative and modern, and we believe that nothing would actually work without us.
