About you
With a strong drive and strong project management skills you want to lead product development at the factory floor from a technical point of view. You are an experienced engineer with a background from the Kitchen Appliance industry or similar. You have good knowledge of setting requirements, standards and test methods for appliance products. Being experienced in new product development and industrial implementation processes is essential. Since you will be in contact with many stakeholder both internally and externally you need to be a good communicator who can interact with people on all levels. Furthermore we think you have:
• University Degree within engineering
• Experience from the Kitchen Appliance industry or similar
• Wish to work and live in Shenzhen in China
• Fluent in English both written and spoken
About the job
As a Product Engineer within our Purchasing Operations Area you lead the engineering and quality implementation perspective in industrialisation of new products. You also lead improvements or movements of existing range to secure quality and compliance to all requirements according to the principles of Democratic Design. You work in close cooperation with the Home Furnishing Business Kitchen Appliances at IKEA of Sweden and suppliers for both new products and moving products to new suppliers.
The location for this role is in Shenzhen, China.
About the assignment
In the role as Product Engineer you lead and involve the right resources in Purchasing to secure the product development projects are delivered on time and with the right quality. You lead the product development on the factory floor from a technical point of view and secure scaleability for further implementation at other suppliers. Securing that the products have the right quality level according to IKEA specifications including packaging, tested and complying with relevant requirements, standards and guidelines. By working closely with suppliers and Product Compliance specialist you secure and verify that all IKEA requirement documents are correct, complete and available in related systems upon first delivery. Furthermore your assignment will include:
• Contribution to the development projects from a technical perspective through your competence in engineering, material, production, quality and customer expectations.
• You identify and execute product improvements with the customer satisfaction in mind as well as effective use of material and production methods.
• Conducting production risk assessments for new products together with the production engineer.
