As a National Purchaser you have an important role to lead and support the IKEA stores and offices in United Kingdom & Ireland with the purchase of indirect material and services, in areas such as facility services (cleaning, security and waste removal), HR services, marketing services, equipment and non food. You will be responsible for leading purchase projects in a defined area of spend, from the very start to the final agreement.

You will be responsible to steer the purchasing process according to the IKEA IMS purchase concept and the market maturity. Purchase projects start at the point of alignment with the operations/functions, this will be one of your biggest challenges so your ability to network, understand the business operations, and translate that into an agreed project activity plan will be critical.

You will be driven by the need to deliver the best possible solution for IKEA, it is not just price, but that is an important factor, so you will not be afraid of confronting our business partners in fact based negotiations. Over time you will develop a better understanding of the cost drivers in your key areas and you will use that information to set future purchasing goals. You will secure sustainability and business ethics standards by practicing in this role and with the support of internal training.

You will constantly work with leaders within the organisation to deliver excellent results and develop the purchasing agenda within your defined areas. At times this may be difficult, but as part of the IMS national purchase team, you will have support from your peers and fellow co-workers to become more confident and challenge the current ways of working.

It is important that you contribute and exchange experiences with other Purchasers, Categories and Functions and stakeholders across the IKEA organisation, so you must have good communication skills. You will be part of a team that consists of National Purchasers that are located in France, Spain and Portugal. You will report to Country Purchase Manager located in London. This full time position is placed permanently at IKEA Service Office London.

Is this the right challenge for you?
You may have a university degree or significant experience within finance, Legal or Business Administration. You have several years of experience within purchasing at the UK market, preferably within Indirects. You will be a curiosity driven problem solver with proven ability of leading projects to support the business and make a real difference.

A strong drive and ability to work with numbers and systems is essential. You are open to changes and always to look for new possibilities and develop ways of working. You have proven analytical and problem solving skills. We believe that you are a good leader with great co-operation and communication skills and you like to interact with people and build trustworthy relations/networks. You will not be afraid of venturing into the unknown, and you really enjoy working to deliver defined goals.

This role requires limited national and international travel.

You are fluent in English, both written and verbal and you are used to work in Excel and PowerPoint. It is an advantage if you have experience from e-sourcing tools and/or contracts, but this is not essential as training will be provided.
