About the job (your work & tasks):

Internal Translations function is to ensure IKEA texts are translated from the source language into the target language for either global or local translation projects. The internal translations function acts like an internal vendor to provide efficient and high quality translations.
An important part of this role is administration of all translation related work.
The purpose of the internal translator role is to ensure that assigned source documents are translated with efficiency, to a high standard and are adhering to IKEA tone of voice. Translators are mandated to translate from English into their respective mother tongue or from their respective language into English.
In your role as internal translator you should adhere to the translation processes and support the local CTC or TL to deliver translations on time.
As part of your translations you will be expected to use the programs in relation to translation (ex) PIA Local / Global Link) and to use the Translation Memory to leverage already translated text with IKEA terminology. At the same time, you will be expected to build a terminology of IKEA words and phrases based on the translations and do proofread when needed. In your role you will be expected to build a good working relationship with CTC/TL and co-workers. You will be expected to communicate with relevant parties to ensure that any delays can be dealt with in a good way.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT – Your work and tasks will include

·  Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained, adhering to IKEA tone of voice.
·  Translate and edit assigned tasks within set deadline
·  Check translations of technical, legal and other specific subject terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent with source
·  Discuss translation requirements with contact person when needed
·  Liaise with content owners to discuss any unclear points
·  Providing grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text in the desired format
·  Use set terminology (if provided) to do the translation
·  Build up and accumulate new terminology for consistency of translation
·  Prioritizing work to meet deadlines
·  Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials
·  Participate in relevant program training for translation
·  Product database management
·  Administration within translation team
