Job Description  

Purpose of the Job:

The facilities manager is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings and other facilities. The successful candidates will be responsible to plan, budget and schedule facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labour materials and other related costs.

Assignments:

• leading and managing the Facility Management department, and the satisfactory delivery of all its tasks.

• ensuring appropriate competent resources are available to manage all facility management- related tasks.

• ensuring all sites are maintained in shape as new through the delivery of planned, corrective and operational maintenance services and project activities.

• ensuring all facility management services at all stores are delivered, and assets and buildings are maintained in strict adherence with all applicable local regulations.

• developing, implementing and communicating best-practice facility management practices throughout the country and sharing knowledge and findings with other countries.

• undertaking periodic supplier reviews based on feedback from sites and conduct periodic audits of supplier performance.

• representing the country facility management function at local and global level.• representing the sites in annual property commercial reviews.

• managing the implementation of IKEA environmental initiatives nationally and representing the country in global IKEA Goes Renewable initiatives.

• ensuring effective energy management according to IKEA global standards.

• producing and distributing periodic reports on performance of facility management services against operational and budget plans, and when required participate in annual global facility management cost benchmarking.

• ensuring all sites create, implement and actively manage annual operational and budget plans to enable all aspects of the building and grounds (facilities, building structures, assets and systems) to be maintained to agreed standards, costs and timeframes.

• partnering the IKEA purchasing organization to improve efficiencies/costs/equipment through coordinated supplier contract renewals and contract negotiations in line with global facility management directives.

• identifying own professional development needs and participating in annual self-assessments to review development opportunities.

• supporting the recruitment, selection, training, development, coaching and mentoring of facility management co-workers in accordance with the IKEA Human Resource Idea, and enabling the development of a potential successor.

• other tasks and projects as they occur.

Qualifications  

 

· 
Academic Degree in Engineering or related field (preferred)
· 
Minimum 5-8 years experience in a multi-unit facilities management organization. High-volume retail sector preferred.
· 
Minimum 3 years at management level with proven management/ leadership skills.
· 
Proven experience in working with sustainability and the environment from a facility management perspective.
· 
Fluency in written and spoken local language.
