The assignment

Right now we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will innovate and create vital solutions within the Product Development Platforms from an engineering perspective. This by being responsible to take the solution from ideation through concept generation, development and optimization and deliver ready to use solutions, fully verified in simulations and in real life testing with statistical data.

In Älmhult there is more than 300 engineers working with development of our range. Together with our own Prototype shop and test lab we have one of the most modern and best equipped development sites you can find.

About the job
·  Innovate and develop solutions within the Product Development Platforms project portfolio;
·  Driving the engineering related work for the solutions i.e. starting with innovative conceptual design, analysis, and optimization of the solution throughout the complete development cycle delivering ready and usable solution;
·  Quality assure engineering deliverables in the Product Development Platforms process;
·  Realize innovations in tangible virtual and physical prototype;
·  Product optimization vs IKEA democratic design goals;
·  Verify the solution towards the product requirements during the development phase;
·  Secure that the final solution is correctly specified for manufacturing and stable over process variances. About you
·  We see that you are a dedicated and skilled professional, you are a quick learner and is willing to adapt to change. You pick up new technology with relative ease;
·  You have an innovative approach, using new technologies and designs to create better products;
·  Experience in working throughout the whole value chain, from idea to final product;
·  Experience and capability to design for manufacturing and different mass production processes;
·  Analytical and creative skills with ability to transfer knowledge, ideas, concepts and data into engineering design models in the form of technical drawings and 3D-CAD models;
·  Ability to work with several Product Development teams and product areas in parallel;
·  Ability to lead verification and development of new test methods including the ability to use statistical methods do design experiments in order to verify the product;
·  Strong ability to work in teams and make things happen through involving and engaging people;
·  University degree in engineering or equivalent;
·  Proficient oral and written English communication skills.
