Database developer and administrator, IKEA Range & Supply, Älmhult

This is a temporary part time assignment for a maximum of 6 months creating a database for articles accessible to people in different roles within Category Area Flatline, IKEA Range & Supply.

IKEA Range & Supply is responsible for developing the IKEA range and making it available to stores and customers all over the world. The organization is based in Älmhult – the heart of IKEA and the centre of IKEA range development.

Category Area Flat line is part of IKEA Range & Supply's Purchasing and Logistics organization within Range & Supply.

Assignment
The organization has a database created in excel that needs to be updated, developed, as well as converted into a real database. A good foundation is developed and we need to keep it together and develop it further and into an IT solution that can be sustained and established. The database needs to be a good storage of a lot of information on different levels and it needs to be easy to work with and accessible, as the data entry will be done by different people. The database should furthermore be able to handle input as well as output of data which means that it needs to be searchable and easy to administer an access. The goal is also to be able to run different reports based on the facts and figures inputted.

In this assignment you'll be responsible to identify and analyze the use of the current database, develop new functionality and structure based on the need. You will furthermore be responsible to share knowledge and functionality of the database to users and to make sure they know the purpose and how to access. You will need to create a visual explanation, Interface for other people based on the new database.

Would this be something for you?
We are looking for you with some database knowledge and experience of creating functionality in a database. You have worked in creating functionality in Microsoft or Oracle. You are a good communicator and has the ability to share and explain the functionality and the purpose of this database to different people. We believe that you also quickly learn and understands the business and the need.
