Communication & Interior Design manager (IKEA Johor Bharu)
Report to: Store Manager
ABOUT THE JOB
You actively participate within the store management team to create and implement the store business plan.Your task is to maximize the impact of the IKEA store as a retail medium that converts visitors into satisfied customers, and stimulates repeated visits by presenting the IKEA range in a way that is attractive and relevant to the local market. You do this through your deep knowledge and passion for peoples' life at home and expert home furnishing competence. You lead and inspire your team to develop and implement:
• store layout as commercial tool
• range presentation
• store communication
YOUR KEY ASSIGNMENT
Your tasks will include:
Customers
1. Having a deep knowledge and understanding of people's needs and wants, their living situations and living conditions in your local market. Together with team you use this knowledge to provide relevant and sustainable home furnishing solutions that improve people's life at home.
2. Contributing to securing a positive store experience for visitors, converting them into satisfied customers, by knowing the IKEA Concept and people's shopping behavior in the local market.
3. Analyzing the Customer Satisfaction survey, Brand Capital and other visitor feedback and use these insights to improve our visitors' store experience.
4. Responsible for optimizing the store layout and for creating a good overview and visual impact. This enables our visitors to experience the total IKEA offer
People
1. Leading and inspiring your team to constantly increase their knowledge of people's life at home and developing their home furnishing competence.
2. You love to develop people and be able to transfer knowledge in theory and practice through business process. You have a passion for working with different cultures and living the IKEA values.
3. Recruiting your team by searching for a combination of IKEA values and specialist competencies (e.g. interior design, graphic design, visual merchandising and store planning).
4. Setting clear goals and regularly follow-ups with the team. Also ensuring that expectations and standards regarding routines are done correctly.
Commercial/Business
1. Securing the uniqueness of the IKEA identity in range presentation and store communication in order to distance ourselves from the competition.
2. Ensuring that the range presentation is relevant to the many people's life at home in the local market, and reflects demographics, living conditions and our visitors' needs and wants.
3. Influencing and co-operating with the store commercial team, your Country Communication and Interior Design manager and other support functions to ensure that we focus on the same priorities.
4. Securing the use of the layout as a commercial tool to plan and implement commercial strategies throughout the store.
5. Presenting and communicating the IKEA range to reflect its width and depth, and strengthen our low.
6. Working with your team and the commercial team to plan and implementing range changes in a simple and cost-conscious way.
7. Actively supporting and developing co-operation with Sales and In-store Logistics through working closely together, sharing knowledge and respecting each other's responsibilities to present the range in the most commercial, inspiring and aesthetically appealing way.
Your knowledge, skills and experience include:
1. Minimum 3 years of IKEA experience in this role
2. a design-based educational qualification and a solid background of working in a design-oriented role.
3. a strong passion, curiosity and understanding of home furnishing and people's everyday life at home.
4. Knowledge of interior design, graphic design, visual merchandising and store planning
5. Ability to set and implement action plans and budgets.
6. Experience of adapting to different styles of working to get the best out of all the team (situational leadership)
7. Strong English language skills, spoken and written. Advanced computer skills are required.
