Job description

About the Job

The Product Engineer is responsible to lead the development and implementation of new products, the moves of products from one supplier to another one and the improvement of existing products based on quality performances and customer expectations. 

You will:

·  Lead product development at the factory floor from a technical point of view and secure scalability for further implementation at all Category suppliers within all regions.
·  Define together with Home Furnishing Businesses the evaluation & test requirements the suppliers have to fulfil during the development stage, follow up those requirements are fulfilled before production start and secure that the product is at correct quality level according to IKEA Documentation (including packaging, tests and comply with relevant standards, demands and guidelines).
·  Lead and involve the right resources in Purchasing and IKEA of Sweden to secure the product development (NEWS and MOVES) projects are delivered on time, with quality and with full Product Requirement Compliance.
·  Actively identify, put forward and lead/execute Product Improvements with priority to satisfy customers, as well to utilize material and energy in an efficient way.
·  Conduct Production Risk Assessments for new products together with supplier and Production Engineer.
·  Register product, arrange for Gate check before First Delivery, secure 1st batch production and first delivery inspection are completed and approved before hand over to Production Engineer (PNE).
·  Lead the start-up of new suppliers from Engineering and Quality perspective.

Please, note that the job requires frequent travelling.

We are looking for someone who knows how to build and maintain business relations, having excellent communication skills, being a good team worker and empathetic, respecting values and being persistent. You are able to prioritize. Easy adaptation to changes and willingness to take responsibility is also necessary.

You also bring:

·  A background in engineering, quality and product/production development
·  Preferably having an engineering education and at least 2-5 years of working experience
·  Good communicative skills and speak fluent English
·  Preferred knowledge of product development tools
·  Proactive approach
