In IKEA Industry, Manufacturing Development organization grows unique manufacturing capability for long-term competitive advantage. Focus areas are Material, Product, Engineering, Energy and Automation capabilities.

Automation development organization within Development Arena has an assignment to develop & innovate automatic solutions in manufacturing for sustainable competitive advantage. Working closely with IKEA Industry factories, technology suppliers, product engineers, research institutions and global manufacturers entire life cycle of automation is covered – from identifying business case until installation and through continuous improvements.

We are looking for a Machine Designer that will contribute to the continues development of the Automation Handling processes. This is a common support role that works across our IKEA Industry production units.

Role

As the Machine Designer within Automation development team you will together with PLC Engineers, Robot Programmers and Mechanical Designers co-create, validate, modify and continuously improve solutions provided by the Automation Specialist team. Our current focus areas are: packing stations, palletizing stations,  internal logistics using conveyors, cross conveyors, stackers, lifts, rotating tables, shuttles, robot grippers, portal robots,flipping stations. Your main responsibilities as the Machined Designer:

·  Leading design changes in existing products
·  Participating in commissioning of prototypes
·  Selecting components,calculating, prototyping and implementing into production
·  Creating technical documentation

The role  includes working with development activities as well as leading improvements of such systems. This is done through close cooperation between IKEA Industry production units, industry subject matter experts, product development colleagues and several of the collaborating companies and Research institutions.

Knowledge of the SolidWorks program, issues related to the safety of machines and experience in working with robotic solutions or other solutions related to internal logistics (feeders / elevators / stackers) higly appreciated.

Who You are

You are both an innovative engineer with an in-depth technical understanding and a team player who thrive in a setting where you get to share both knowledge and team spirit. Your passion for technology is something we take for granted and your ability to simplify and communicate complex topics to internal and external stakeholders appreciated. We also believe you have a hands-on experience in creating concepts of machines and stations for automatic solutions and designing machines for handling components. Your competence is backed by a degree in a relevant technical field or the equivalent gained through a working career. You are goal and action oriented and confidently and inclusively communicate with people around you. We also think that you enjoy both solving complex problems, validating existing solutions and explaining your findings and ideas to others.

Working with us you will be collaborating in a global environment, which means good skills in English will come in handy. As part of your assignment is visiting different IKEA Industry factories driving license cat B is required.

This is a permanent, full-time position located in our Automation Center in Zbaszyn, Poland.

You will be working in Zbaszyn or remotely or at our different IKEA Industry factories  during start-ups.
