JOB OVERVIEWThe Arch Bar and Wellington Lounge Team Leader assists the manager to cover all meal periods in the ground floor space and is responsible for the delivery of service standards, maintaining quality equipment, par levels, product presentation, service and product training and may be asked to support other operational areas as business requires. Performance in this position is measured through many tools including, but not limited to, Heartbeat results, ESPS results, press reviews and service reputation. Your day to day
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL RETURNS- Assist the manager to control labour cost through effective scheduling as appropriate to business needs. This includes the submission of payroll weekly on time and accurate.- Ensure checks are presented at all tables during service to secure full payment for all products and services offered.- Understand how to efficiently process payments, count floats for accuracy and enforce cash handling procedures.- Authorize requisition orders when manager is not present. Ensure beverage wastage and transfers of stock are recorded accurately.
PEOPLE- Prepare and execute product and service trainings, act as departmental trainer when needed.- Encourage a positive working environment and work to increase and maintain high ESPS results.- Attend monthly departmental associate meetings and actively participate.
GUEST EXPERIENCE- Assist the manager to drive Heartbeat (guest satisfaction program) and communicate results.- Act as a head waiter at times of need.- Constantly critique quality levels of service and product consistency.RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS- Assist the manager to ensure that all associates are trained on responsible alcohol service, food hygiene, first aid and other topics related to their job discipline.- Liaise with back of house manager to ensure equipment breakage is properly accounted for.
What we need from you
ACCOUNTABILITYThe Arch Bar and Wellington Lounge Team Leader has approximately 15-20 direct reports, including bartenders, cocktail servers and other support staff. The number of direct reports may vary.This position reports directly into the Arch Bar and Wellington Lounge Manager and must work closely with key department heads, included but not limited to: Learning and Development Manager, Hiring Manager, Cookbook Café, Sous Chefs, Back of House Manager, Theo Randall Manager, Chief Concierge, Security associates, Guest Relations Managers, Duty Engineers, Housekeeping public attendants and Director of Food and Beverage.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSThe Arch Bar and Wellington Lounge Team Leader must display strong leadership and management skills. Examples of organizational and English communication skills must be displayed. Management or supervisory experience in a five-star or similar environment is required (hotel or independent).Profound knowledge of customer service and of all beverage products such as spirits, wines, beers, cocktail and cocktail preparation methods is not essential.Previous experience in training junior associates, Micros or other similar POS system knowledge is taken into consideration. Understanding of Microsoft office (word, excel, power point) is also taken into consideration.
