Your day to day
Reporting directly to the Laundry Manager, the Laundry attendant is mainly responsible for assisting the washers, pressers and other members of the laundry team in providing a clean and timely service to guests and internal customers.
• Assists in transferring linen and clothes between machines• Feeds in linen in the flat-work iron• Ensures timely addition of chemicals in proper quantity• Maintains proper temperature, pressure and water level• Ensures machines and areas are kept free of lint• Ensures general cleanliness of the entire laundry department• Attends all staff training meetings as when directed by the superiors• Reports health or safety hazards to the Laundry Manager• Receives, sorts, counts, stores and issues all F & B and room linen according to established procedures• Assists in inventory taking• Reports damages and loss of linen to supervisor and also assist in repairing linen• Issue guests and cleaning supplies according to established procedures• Maintains linen room and equipment in proper state of cleanliness and repair• Ensures broken zippers, missing buttons are replaced and mending is done if necessary• Attends all staff training meetings as when directed by the superiors• Reports health or safety hazards to the Laundry Manager• Performs sewing duties including altering, fitting and mending for guests, hotel linen and uniforms• Fits all new employees with existing uniforms• Cuts, tailors, mends and alters uniforms• Converts condemned items into usable items• Sews curtains, cushions and wall coverings• Attends to guest requests• Assists in the preparation of special functions• Maintains equipment and keeps own working area clean• Checks all linen and uniform repairs on a daily basis• Makes costumes for special events for the hotel• Maintains sewing supplies such as threads, buttons, zippers, linen etc• Prepares requisitions for depleted supplies • Checks condemned linen from Laundry• Assist in the linen room duties as appropriate• Assists in inventory taking• Advises superior of damages and loss of linen/uniform on regular basis• Establishes and maintains effective employee relations• Prepares guest pressing and dry cleaning as requested in accordance with the hotel’s presentation standard• Spots and dry cleans all uniforms • Sorts articles to be dry cleaned into categories and performs dry cleaning function including:• Uses all dry cleaning equipment• Uses spotting boards• Attends to pre-coating and slugging• Sort articles for pressing into categories and performs pressing function including:• Using pressing equipment• Use appropriate chemicals when pressing• Maintain chemical supplies• Prepare requisitions for depleted supplies• Check guest items on receipt for damage and record any findings• Maintains dry cleaning equipment in good condition and ensures regular servicing• Attends to outside customers and guests courteously, promptly while maximizing sales • Maintains working area and equipment in proper state of cleanliness and repair• Reports guest complaints to superior immediately• Complies with Hotel’s health, safety and hygiene policies and adheres to conduct personal grooming and hygiene standards• Attends meetings and training sessions as required• Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:
• Communication skills• Good English command (speaking/reading/understanding/writing)• Basic knowledge about how to operate different kind of machines and of chemicals• Ensures that your work quality meets the standards required and complete tasks in a timely and thorough manner with minimum supervision• Recognizes different garments and has knowledge of how each and one of them should be treated
