You will need to be strong and assist department heads, manage revenues and sales, and set the example. 

 

Your day to day

Create and maintain customer-driven hotel with a customer-keeping vision that inspires the hotel employees to do their best. Oversee the quality process to ensure customer satisfaction by consistent delivery of both product quality and service in accordance with hotel’s profitability goals.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:   

       •   Perform administrative duties including; reading and writing reports,, dictating memorandums and orally communicating with guests, manager, corporate office, local associations, etc.  Critically review reports of occupancy, revenue etc.  Make judgments and implement changes to maximize profits.  Supervise development of and revision to business plan, annual budget and annual and monthly forecasts, etc.

       •     Interview, hire, supervise and counsel department managers in the efficient operation of their respective area(s).  Meet with, develop and delegate improvement plans for operation and review performance of management team.      

       •     Participate in community affairs and maintain positive public image for Hotel and hotel. Meet with potential and current clients and promote hotel.

        •   Physically tour and visually inspect property on a daily bases.  Monitor cost control, properly condition, cleanliness and quality of product and service throughout hotel.  Greet and maintain rapport with employees and customers.

       •     Travel to attend corporate meetings, sales trips and serve on committees such as Research, Development and Standards committee.

     Other:

     Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

     Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect training and business needs of the hotel.

     Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.  Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination  of employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

·  Monitor hotels safety program
·  Report to regional Vice President concerning overall performance of property and accomplishments within the operation.

            Review preventative maintenance program and conduct room inspection on weekly basis.

What we need from you

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using other combination of skills and abilities,

 

·  Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation plans, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hotel law, and the development of long-range planning.

 

·  Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.  Able to set priorities, plan, organize, delegate, and control.

 

·  Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff--being persuasive, clear and to the point.  Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, corporate offices, and owners.

 

·  Ability to move throughout premises and visually inspect conditions including bending, stooping and reaching arms overhead.

 

·  Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

 

·  Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.

 

·  Ability to travel to various sites on and off hotel property up to four miles per day and continuously perform essential job functions. 

 

·  Ability to remain stationary and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time.

 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 

     Education:

 

            College Degree or equivalent education, i.e. hotel business school

 

     Experience:

 

            Minimum of three years experience as General Manager or Assistant Manager.

            Experience in all phases of hotel management, including sales and marketing in a first class hotel organization, daily management of all areas of operations involving human resources, food and beverage, budget management, rooms, housekeeping
