Are you looking for a fresh, exciting opportunity in Engineering? Do you have previous experience working within food manufacturing? We are seeking a hands-on, proactive individual to join us as a Semi-Skilled Engineer at our Trafford Park site.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Semi-Skilled Engineer will play a key role in supporting the maintenance and operational efficiency of our manufacturing equipment. This position is ideal for candidates with a foundational understanding of engineering principles and a desire to develop further skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Role Details

Role: Semi-Skilled Engineer

Salary: up to £33,140 per annum, dependant on experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, typically 7:00AM/8:00AM – 15:00PM/16:00PM, with some flexibility required.

Contract: Permanent.

 

Job Description

The Semi-Skilled Engineer will be responsible for:

·  Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment used in food production processes.
·  Perform routine inspections of equipment to identify signs of wear, damage, or malfunction, using a pro-active approach in preventative / predictive maintenance techniques.
·  Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures, ensuring minimal downtime.
·  Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
·  Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
·  Clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
·  Assist in the setup and calibration of machinery for production runs.
·  Report and escalate issues to the engineering manager when necessary.
·  Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruptions and ensure continuous operation.
·  To comply and assist with all technical and HACCP requirements to ensure the best product quality.
·  Work closely with the Engineering Manager, Production, Warehouse and other relevant teams to achieve operational goals.

 

 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

·  NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mechanical, or Electrical Maintenance.
·  At least 2 years in a food, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
·  Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable:

·  Experience in a semi-skilled engineering or maintenance role is preferred.
·  Electrical/mechanical maintenance certification is desirable.

 

Key Capabilities

·  Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
·  Familiarity with food manufacturing equipment is an advantage.
·  Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
·  Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under supervision.
·  Strong commitment to safety and hygiene standards in food production.
·  Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
