Informix Database Administrator

Job description

In 2016 IBM Global Technology Services established a new Delivery Center in Sofia, which provides high-value IT services and leverage proven road maps and frameworks we have developed in our global network, bringing together an outstanding talent pool to help global leaders solve some of their most challenging problems.

Responsibilities:

- Candidates in the role would be responsible for day to day support of multiple databases across multiple accounts
- Candidates are expected to provide troubleshooting and advice on any issues and be up to date with new Informix releases
- Cluster Informix management, installation & upgrades are potential tasks related to the role
- Candidates would be responsible for the communication with the accounts representatives and technical crisis management in case of issues
- Troubleshooting and improvement/optimization of complex DB problems and performance issues

Requirements:

- Knowledge on Informix Architecture
- Experience in Installation and Configuration of new Informix instances
- Capability to perform patching and upgrade with minimal downtime
- Capable of providing effective monitoring solutions for Informix in integeration with other tools like Netcool, Bluecare etc.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience on Replication technologies like HDR, ER etc.
- Experience in trouble shooting -eg. locks, long transactions, connection issues etc.
Experience in Performance management
Able to work in high pressure Support environment
- Familiarity with different flavours of Unix ( Solaris,AIX, Linux etc)
- Knowledge on shell scripting
- Knowledge on Incident & Change management process
