CEC Recovery Technician - 2nd Shift
Poughkeepsie (Dutchess County)
Job description
This position is for a development engineer/technician with the IBM Z CEC recovery test. Engineering Systems Test is the final stage of product development where the design, architecture, and code is validated and qualified. You will be developing test plans and performing tests, on prototype IBM Z mainframe server hardware platforms, in preparation for releasing these new servers into the marketplace. You will identify and document defects, and work with development personnel to debug problems and verify solutions. We are looking for an individual who will take ownership of assigned testing and drive work to completion, ensuring a high-quality delivery to our customers.
Responsibilities will include both creating and executing test cases that will verify the ability of the IBM Z platform to recover from a wide variety of hardware failures. You will also be testing maintenance procedures which allow a failing part to be serviced while the server remains in operation.
Candidate must possess keen skills toward small details, testing outside normal system expectations, demonstrate technical writing and verbal skills, and some level of programming knowledge. It is also important that the candidate be able to work alongside test engineers, development, client support representatives, and electrical technicians. Knowledge of IBM Z server configuration, operation, and operating systems is desirable.
Join the IBM Z Engineering System Test team and continue the IBM tradition of delivering world-class z mainframes that are best of breed in Reliably, Availability, and Serviceability.
