THE ROLE
IBISWorld is looking for an enthusiastic entry-level editor to work in our London office. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for editing market research reports and making sure they adhere to IBISWorld writing standards and style guidelines. The assistant must be comfortable with high-volume, somewhat repetitive work. The assistant will also use InDesign to perform basic typesetting and layout tasks. Some assignments must be completed within strict deadlines.
Role Responsibilities
- Copyedit economic reports for spelling, punctuation and grammar issues
- Ensure that economic reports adhere to company writing and style guidelines
- Liaising with authors to resolve writing or logic issues in reports in a timely manner
- Make corrections to reports without altering the meaning or logic of the content
- Performing basic layout and typesetting tasks in InDesign
- Collaborating with the editorial team, authors, designers and managers
- Other duties as assigned
Key Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in English, publishing or equivalent
- Ability to learn new subjects and applications quickly
- Strong organisation and time management skills. The ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards is a must
- Sound computer and basic maths skills
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise and collaborate
- Experience using InDesign desirable
- Attention to detail, impeccable grammar skills and experience using style guides
Preferred Attributes
- General knowledge of business/economic concepts preferred. Experience working at a business publication would be highly regarded
- Experience as a proofreader/copy editor
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary between £18,000 and £22,000 (dependent on experience), as well as a great working environment.
