Engineering Manager

Job description
· Supervise the daily operations of the Security & Maintenance department, ensuring a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for guests, associates, and hotel assets.
· Lead, coach, and motivate the Security & Maintenance team, ensuring compliance with Hyatt standards, hotel policies, and statutory safety regulations.
· Coordinate and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance works, prioritizing guest-related requests to minimize operational disruptions and maintain high service standards.
· Conduct regular security patrols, safety inspections, and fire prevention checks to identify potential risks, maintenance issues, and ensure all emergency equipment and exits remain fully operational.
· Manage emergency response procedures, including fire drills, incident investigations, accident reporting, and coordination with emergency services and local authorities.
· Monitor maintenance costs, energy consumption, inventories, and contractor performance to ensure operational efficiency and cost control.
· Handle guest and associate inquiries, complaints, and security-related matters professionally, ensuring prompt resolution and a positive customer experience.
· Deliver daily team briefings, conduct performance evaluations, provide safety and compliance training, and support employee development in line with Hyatt's values and culture.
· Maintain accurate security and maintenance records, prepare incident reports, and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, fire safety, and hotel operational procedures.
· Collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, and other departments to support hotel operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
· Experience in hotel security, facilities, or maintenance operations, preferably within the hospitality industry.
· Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS), fire safety regulations, emergency response, and security procedures.
· Ability to coordinate preventive maintenance programs and oversee contractor performance.
· Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and incident investigation skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and external authorities.
· Customer-focused with the ability to resolve complaints professionally and efficiently.
· Proficient in preparing reports, maintaining records, and managing inventories.
· Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
· Knowledge of hotel operations, facilities management, and energy management principles.
· First Aid, Fire Warden, or Security-related certifications are advantageous.
· Flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and on-call when required.
