As a Duty Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and safety of our facilities, providing essential support to our operations departments.

The Role:

As part of the Hotel's Engineering Department, the Duty Technician is responsible for delivering efficient, high-quality maintenance services across guest rooms and hotel facilities. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical skills in general maintenance, with a primary focus on room inspections, fault rectification, and preventative maintenance to ensure a seamless guest experience.

The role requires sound knowledge in basic electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance, along with the ability to respond promptly to guest and operational needs.

Core Duties:

• Conduct routine guest room inspections to ensure all fixtures, fittings, and equipment are in good working condition prior to guest arrival.
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, including lighting, power, plumbing, air-conditioning, and general repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance across guest rooms and public areas to minimize breakdowns and service disruptions.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship to support the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.

• Carry out general handyman tasks including carpentry, painting, patching, and minor building repairs.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs in:

- Electrical systems (e.g. lighting, power outlets, appliances)

- Plumbing systems (e.g. leaks, blockages, fixtures)

- Building and finishes (e.g. doors, locks, furniture)

• Support the Engineering team in daily operations, including work orders, contractor coordination, and maintenance planning.
• Assist with facility and plant monitoring, reporting faults or irregularities to Engineering Manager.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and completed tasks.

IT Support:
• Provide basic IT support such as assisting with TVs, guest room connectivity issues, and simple troubleshooting.
• Escalate all complex IT issues to the IT Systems Manager.

Work Health & Safety (WHS) :
• Follow all WHS policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for guests and colleagues.
• Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and maintenance risks.
• Use tools and equipment safely and ensure proper housekeeping of work areas.
• Participate in safety inspections and compliance activities as required.

Role requirements:

• Proven experience in a hotel, facilities, or building maintenance environment.
• Strong hands-on skills in general maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and building works.
• Good understanding of room maintenance standards and inspections in a hotel environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic administrative skills and ability to manage work orders.
• Strong communication skills and a guest-focused mindset.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and evenings.
