IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices.

It employs around 8,500 employees globally and comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and PMO, and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC's technology strategy to support the Group's goals.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of zSeries Storage Engineer.

The zSeries Storage Engineer is responsible for leading, building and supporting the zSeries Storage hardware and software infrastructure.

In this role you will:

Regular qualification and testing of hardware/software/microcode for security and big fix, new features and functionality

·
Perform a Technical Project Management role for large zSeries infrastrcutre projects

·
Setup automation to reduce manaual interventions in the Storage infrastructure

·
Consolidate and reduce infrastructure complexity

·
Manage Risk and Cost Management

·
Ensure Service Quality Targets are met for offered platform services

·
Work collaboratively with peers across domains / disciplines and with vendors / partners to deliver high quality solutions

·
zSeries Storage hardware/Software design, configuration, implementation and support

Desired profile

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

· 
Experience working within large-scale enterprise IT environment and the embedded controls

· 
Experience working with Agile working practices and tooling

· 
Experience working within a DevOps operating model

· 
Experience and awareness of security, audit, risk and compliance within enterprise IT environment

· 
Experience working and partnering with storage vendors (e.g. IBM, EMC)

· 
Experience of working and Technical Project Management skills on large infrastructure projects

· 
Excellent communications skills and ability to work with key stakeholders

Technical Skills
- IBM DS8K disk hardware installation and upgrade skills
- IBM DSCLI knowledge

- EMC DLM virtual tape hardware installation and upgrade skill

- EMC DLm software configuration, amendment and monitoring

- Broadcomm (Brocade) DCX hardware skills and FICON concepts / configuration

- IBM zOS IODF knowledge
- IBM GDPS
- IBM PPRC Metro / Global mirror skill
- IBM DFHSM / DFDSS / ICKDSF
- zOS JCL / Job scheduling skill set
- CA1 / Vantage / Disk skill set
- TDMFS skill set

The base location for this role can be London, Birmingham, Sheffield or Wakefield.
