The function of Wholesale Banking Origination Associate has the objective to support the business and periodic reports of the area. The holder of the position will develop the following skills (i) use of financial analysis to originate solutions to customers to finance acquisitions, CAPEX and Debt Refinancing, (ii) Elaborate marketing materials to deliver our customers financing proposals (Term Sheets), (iii) provide integral solutions that include hedging transactions to mitigate market risks and the possibility to refinance loans through the capital markets, (iv) support the team in the execution of the deals, (v) collaborate with other teams in order to originate cross selling and (vi) have the capacity to interact face to face with Wholesale Banking Customers, internal stakeholders and external counsels.
Being part of the primary support for the Directors as the market face of the team, whereby the successful applicant will help to originate and structure transactions for these clients, which will include loans and to collaborate with GBM product specialist in the origination of investment banking / capital markets products
Establish a holistic understanding of clients’ needs and deliver innovative high value solutions across all Investment Banking product lines
The job holder will be responsible for a broad range of tasks including financial analysis and modelling, preparation of pitch-books, pricing and structuring loan transactions, credit analysis and supporting Directors/Team Heads with internal comms, reporting and projects
Internal/External stakeholder management
Drive proactive connectivity and collaboration between Investment Banking product partners, Coverage, Sector and other Global Businesses, in order to deliver maximum value of HSBC products and services to our existing and prospective clients
Maintaining trusted relationships with the Coverage teams and Senior Management to drive origination opportunities and client engagement
Ensure that CMBO operates in accordance with HSBC’s internal lending and other guidelines, controls and procedures in addition to any external regulatory requirements

Willingness to undertake the training/study required in this role, i.e. FCA approval, Chartered Institute Securities Investments (CISI) qualifications.

Requirements
A genuine interest in the financial markets
Experience in investment banking / debt finance / coverage / corporate finance in Global Banking, leveraged finance, CMBO or equivalent is desirable but not essential
Customer
Relevant knowledge of loan and capital market products is desirable but not essential
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Analyst, Middle Market Financial Sponsors (MMFS), Corporate Banking Centre (CBC), Relationship Management (RM) is desirable but not essential
Successfully engaged customers to understand their needs and identify sales/service opportunities
Experience of financial analysis and financial modelling skills
Experience using relevant software packages, i.e. Excel, Power Point
Internal/External stakeholder management
Comfortable with co-ordinating and presenting effectively both verbally and in writing
Organised and able to work to tight timelines, managing the unexpected as well as anticipated issues or events, with the confidence to speak-up or escalate where appropriate
Ability to gather, analyse and interpret comprehensive information and/or customer requirements in order to provide solutions that are commercially viable and sustainable
Experience of building effective customer relationships which create customer advocacy
