Job description

Oversight and management of the LatAm FIG client portfolio – responsible for originating and executing business from LatAm into US corridor.
Management of a team of relationship managers and analysts supporting the business development effort for a large portfolio of financial institution clients.
Must build a robust business pipeline aligned to existing risk appetite, and must demonstrate sufficient understanding and management of all risks inherent in the business.
Growth of profitable long-term relationships with existing clients and identification of strategic opportunities with prospect clients.
Coverage to include Financial Institutions, Asset Management Companies, Insurance companies, and pension funds domiciled in Latin America (including subsidiaries of international banks).
Successful implementation of revenue growth strategy across the team, i.e. defending/serving existing business in addition to originating new value-added revenue streams.
Develop and instill a holistic understanding of clients’ needs, by sector, to deliver innovative high value solutions across all product lines, gaining significant business and sustainable returns for the Group. Responsibilities
Develop ‘Trusted Advisor’ relationship and access at key decision maker level for assigned clients.
Co-ordinate origination and execution of activities across the spectrum of Global Banking & Markets products/service.
Build the Global Banking franchise value/reputation in the market place.
Drive achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction and cost containment.
Combine client relationship management with strong risk assessment and management capabilities ensuring the required credit quality & requisite returns on risk
Identify event driven opportunities on an opportunistic basis, bringing in sector/country expertise as appropriate.
Aggressively grow HSBC’s share of client wallet involving product specialists to ensure product capabilities are in line with client/sector requirements
In conjunction with senior management, assist in the management, development and assessment of staff.
Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.
Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the development of the Global Banking business.

Desired profile

Proven ability to gain substantial business for the Group across a full range of products.
Proven track record of building & developing long term relationships including at key decision maker level for all clients.
In depth industry knowledge.
Portfolio management skills.
Strong knowledge of HSBC Group and products, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas.
Proven record of proactively developing and originating client solutions.
Strong understanding of Wholesale Credit Risk management and Financial Crime Risk, as well as mitigants.
Language Skills: Spanish (fluent) Required; Portuguese (fluent) preferred.
FINRA Series 79 licenses required. On an exception basis, a 90 day contingency may be granted solely at management's discretion. Licenses are required to discuss and sell investment with potential or existing customers.
