Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are seeking an experienced UX Designer to join HSBC Technology.
CMB Technology sits within HSBC Operations, Services and Technology (HOST). Our team provides the technology solutions that enable the business to operate and service customers. From cutting edge relationship management platforms built using Agile/DevOps to industrial strength engines that power global online websites and trade platforms, our highly engaged and talented team can do it all.
CMB Digital Channels is a major Service Line within CMB Technology, responsible for the technology channels to Commercial & Global Banking clients (‘HSBCNet') & its underling payments / transactions engine (‘Connect') as well as the internet & mobile platforms for Small to Medium Enterprises (‘Business Banking').
What you will be doing;
UX designers are assigned to work and oversee the user experience design of a range of digital projects. Their key responsibilities will be to help elicit requirements, define the user experience through concepts, wireframes and prototyping to ensure successful delivery of the product whilst overseeing the UX produced by other user experience designers, offering support and design direction alongside the UX manager.
Each project is supported by a cross-functional team, potentially made up of a product owner, scrum master, developers, testers, solution architects, business analysts, UX and visual design function. Responsibilities will include some or all of the following:

Define and manage all aspects of the User-Centred Research & Design Process.

Lead and inspire cross-disciplinary design & development teams.
·
Build and maintaining professional relationships with key senior stakeholders to ensure expectations are met
at all stages of a project
·
Help third parties plan & conduct ethnographic user research & user testing.
·
Create interaction models & wireframes/prototypes, using Axure, Sketch, InVision etc.
·
Experience using Jira and Confluence
·
Engage and collaborate with the various SMEs and IT resources to translate the requirements into user experiences
·
Work alongside and inspire the junior team members in their craft and help build a collaborative working environment, particulary with off-shore teams
·
Provide regular progress/status report updates and communicate risks/issues to Delivery Manager
·
Where relevant, manage relationships with third party vendors
·
Work with Delivery Managers in both a direct and collaborative manner and be able to perform in accordance to management expectations
·
Participate in meetings / workshops to discuss and translate findings / recommendations into quality documentation
·
Demonstrate strong communication / storytelling style
·
Be self-motivated and able to absorb complex information and find simple usable solutions
·
Be the ‘face' of user experience with the senior level stakeholders, by building close relationships, trust and confidence within the teams.

Drive innovative thinking with key stakeholders that challenges the brief and leads to better solutions
·
Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to capture requirements
·
Facilitate / support interviews to determine customer needs
·
Design information architecture, site maps, user flows
·
Propose a range of creative conceptual ideas for projects
·
Create sketches and storyboards to visualise UX solutions
·
Engage third parties to validate ideas and designs through user testing
·
Present work internally and to stakeholders
·
Build and manage relationships with stakeholders and development teams.
·
Drive innovative thinking that challenges the brief and leads to better solutions.
·
Work closely with other UX teams to share knowledge, coordinate resources across projects & preserve and enhance our collaborative culture
Desired profile
Qualifications :
What you will bring to the role;
·
Ideally, some exposure to banking payment systems
·
Other broad exposure to banking (corporate or investment)
·
Project experience, especially scrum / agile methodologies
·
Exposure to large scale programmes
·
Experience of working across all levels of an organization
·
University degree in Design or Human Computer Interaction – or equivalent industry experience.
