Job description
The Unix Security Administrator role is based within the Infrastructure team of Information Security.
The role of the Unix Security Administrator is to be responsible for all aspects of UNIX security; to support business and infrastructure projects; and to work closely with colleagues across IT.

Your responsibilities will include:
Providing support to business and infrastructure projects.
Ensuring the security compliance of the UNIX platform and associated products.
Providing technical consultancy to counterparts in IT Operations, Software Delivery and Security Operations.
Developing and implementing new security solutions.
Working to drive standardisation of security on the UNIX platform.
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. technical support, systems delivery or security specialist
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. AIX, Solaris, Red Hat and SUSE
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. IT Operations / IT Security / Computer Networks environment(s) is desirable but not essential
A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
Experience of personally complying with business processes, rules and regulations
The base location for this role is Sheffield.
