· Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal policies and control standards, and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behaviour

Role Context
· The work of surveillance is to monitor the actions of HSBC's staff and clients, in the course of their work activities, for behaviours or actions which could abuse financial markets and breach regulations, and for evidence of fraud. Surveillance takes action to deter, detect, and manage the consequences of such illegal activity.
· The Transformation team of surveillance owns and manages the applications used for surveillance of financial transaction data, and written and audio communications data. Trade surveillance in particular focuses on various kinds of abuses of financial markets, such as front running, insider trading and spoofing. The users of these applications are the wider surveillance team, who investigate the behaviours highlighted by these systems, and take action internally and externally according to the outcomes of investigations, and manage our relationships with regulators.
