Overall Summary of the Job:

Responsible for managing Middle and Back Office Operations staff supporting the various Fixed Income & Equities desks; provide supervisory oversight of local teams. End-to-end process knowledge across all of Securities (Bonds, equities, coupons, IPOs) affirmation, confirmation, clearing and settlement process; inclusive Emerging Markets and DCM, is critical. Ensure tight controls are in place and enforced to keep operational risk to the Bank minimized. Align team to Global Target Operating Model.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Lead a team in the daily support and maintenance of Equity and Fixed Income post-execution trade activities, including bookings, affirmations, confirmations, settlements, and reconciliations; effectively manage operational risks and ensure proper controls are in place.

• Support Senior Operations Management and Global Product Heads in achieving business and strategic objectives.

• Ensure costs and headcount are within month-to-date and year-to-date targets, inclusive of migration initiatives.

• Provide both formal and informal feedback to team members via year-end reviews, regular 1:1 meetings, and ad hoc discussions.

• Liaise with Front Office management on initiatives and daily concerns.

• Point of contact for Regulatory Compliance reviews, new initiatives, and internal/external audits.

• Represent Operations in local and global Controls calls/meetings AMIB, BCC, etc.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external clients and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely resolution of queries.

• Set yearly objectives for self and team aligning to personal and departmental strategic initiatives.

• Maintain the HSBC Group FIM standards and ensure satisfactory or above audit ratings are achieved.

• Ensure staff have the relevant experience and expertise for their roles.

• Ensure staff are adequately educated as new products and processes are implemented, both internally and industry-wide.

• Oversee team supporting the Global Markets transactions

• Ability to recognize when a task should be escalated and following through to ensure management are aware.

Qualifications :

Front to Back understanding of trade cycle and risk relating to it.

•Good communication, planning and organizing skills. Strong managerial and communication skills.

•Ability to set priorities and work effectively

•Undergraduate Degree.

•Strong understanding of operational risk and controls.

•Project Management experience.

•Ability to set objectives and develop junior staff members.

•Ability to engage with Senior Management and represent the team in addition to themselves.

•Minimum of 3 years' experience in people management.
