The Student Credit Risk Analyst - One year placement as part of Degree role is based within Retail Risk Analytics.

The role of the Student Credit Risk Analyst role is to develop and maintain decisioning strategies for credit products across all HSBC brands. You will be expected to work to a plan and design, test & deploy code in a timely and accurate manner. You will be required to clearly communicate progress and issues to stakeholders. You will already be studying for a degree in a business information systems type subject and be looking to undertake a 1 year placement as part of your course.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Developing, testing and deploying strategies utilising decisioning systems and SAS analytical tools
· Understanding requirements and being able to follow a plan to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
· Liaising with key business stakeholders to devise, develop & maintain a programme of work designed to continually enhance risk management
· Following agreed governance & process to manage developments & mitigate deployment risks
· Working closely with colleagues within our Global Analytics Centre and supporting offshore deployments

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
· Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Studying for a degree in business information systems type subject
· Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Microsoft Office, e.g. Excel, Word, Powerpoint; SAS is desirable but not essential
· A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
· Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
· Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
· Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques
· The ability to understand and interpret straightforward financial data
· A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
The base location for this role is Sheffield or Leeds
