Job description

The Associate Director role is based within CCO, UK Corporate Banking.
 
Member of the Corporate Capital Origination Team (CCO), which is responsible for providing support to the UK Corporate Banking Centres (“UK CMB”) by originating and executing a full suite of capital markets and debt financing solutions. This will encompass supporting the directors in leading multi-bank loan transactions, either leading a syndication process, on a best-efforts or underwritten basis, or co-ordinating a ‘club’ arrangement and driving Capital Financing origination.  Transactions are sourced primarily from the existing client base and target names, however, in addition, the team is responsible for maintaining contact with the independent debt advisory market. 
Your responsibilities will include:

To optimise the potential value of corporate client relationships by delivering financing solutions in co-operation with the Corporate Banking Centres to achieve the CCO annual income plan. This will be achieved by working within deal teams to:
Lead negotiations, discussions, pitches to clients alongside team members sharing the significant experience of structuring and managing complex/international credits.
Pitch for new business to both existing and new clients
Provide pricing guidance and support notes for all new proposals, ensuring appropriate return generated
Structure transactions, negotiation and completion of relevant and required documentation.
Undertake Holistic Finance Reviews for an agreed number of select Large Corporate clients.
Liaise and work with other areas and segments of the Bank to ensure the best possible experience for both the customers, employees and the Bank, maximising returns/cross sales.
Proactive and frequent involvement in the external market place, acting as an ambassador for HSBC including networking and negotiations with professionals, clients and prospective clients.
Deal with client complaints as necessary.
Responsibility for managing deal flow, achieving annual operating plan whilst also ensuring operational integrity and compliance.
To assist in leading, developing and coaching the CCO team and improve employee engagement.
Personal example in demonstrating commitment to teamwork and open management.
To continually manage and reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
Monitor the consistent application of Group policy and manage all regulatory, financial and legal risks in CCO.
Driving efficient, accurate and timely processing of client requests and transactions.
Ensure all relevant compliance matters are adhered to including relevant training, maintenance of Insider Registers and Chinese Walls (where required) and no breach of Competition Law

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
 
KNOWLEDGE

Excellent knowledge of HSBC and its products and services.
Knowledge of structured banking transactions, IPOs, leveraged finance, syndicated loans, private placements, bonds and securitisations and global capital markets.
Excellent knowledge of the Syndicated Loan market.
Capital markets knowledge/ experience would be preferable.
Knowledge of the changing economic, social and governmental environment and industries/sectors in the UK.
Understanding of risk management and credit mitigates and strong credit knowledge.
Professional qualifications by way of ACIB, IFS Diploma in Corporate Banking or equivalent.
Professional qualifications as required by the FCA i.e. Approved Person status. 
Registration with the FCA and maintenance of competency thereafter in line with the Training and Competence manual.
EXPERIENCE

Proven track record in a corporate client focused environment and an ability to anticipate clients’ needs and tailor service delivery to them.
Proven record in decision making.
Proven record in deal completion.
Experience in planning, organising and coaching others.

Strong ability to manage the competing priorities of deal flows, credit quality and the requirement to drive income.
Strong ‘team’ skills promoting an environment of co-operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered.

The base location for this role is 8 Canada Square, London.
