The role of the Senior Manager
- Independent Model Review is to The role of the Senior Manager, Independent Model Review is to conduct Independent Review of Retail and Wholesale Credit as well as Stress Testing and Operational Risk Models for Europe and Middle East Regions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conduct Independent Review for Retail and Wholesale Credit, Stress Testing and Operational Risk Models across Europe and Middle East & North Africa
Modelling subject matter expertise
Providing support for Europe and Middle East & North Africa Model Oversight Committee on model approval
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Retail Credit Products, Wholesale Credit Products
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Financial Services
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Academic degree in numerate discipline
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Credit risk modelling or Validation
Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. SAS
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. VBA, Eviews, Matlab
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. The position requires some international travel.
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Master and/or PhD is desirable but not essential
Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Wholesale and Retail Credit Lending Products
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Rapidly changing regulatory environment
Dynamic model delivery schedule
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Educated to Bachelors degree level in a numerate discipline (2:1 or above), or extensive experience in relevant role, Masters and/or PhD desirable
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Practical experience of Retail and/or Wholesale Credit Risk modelling techniques, especially IRB models. Experience with Stress Testing and Economic Capital models as well as model implementation systems desirable
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. The role will require some on-site reviews across the UK and occasionally other HSBC offices in Europe / Middle East
Previous experience of delivering an excellent customer service
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Worked collaboratively with others colleagues, supporting them when possible
Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes

A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders in challenging environment
