The Senior Business Consultant (Europe) role is based within Business Consulting: Global Change Delivery.
  
The role of the Senior Business Consultant is to work with our internal clients to define and prioritise business problems and opportunities; exploring shaping and scoping possible solutions to these problems; building commitment around an agreed solution; and defining a transformational business change that fundamentally enhances the way the business operates in order to create value and deliver upon the strategy.
 
In short, we shape change to transform how HSBC runs its businesses and serves our customers.
 
We are currently looking for a Senior Business Consultants to join our European Business Consulting Team.  
 
We are relocating our UK ring fenced banking operations to Birmingham by January 2019, and significantly increasing opportunities in the Midlands. We are setting up a new, dynamic consultancy hub in Birmingham to support the new HQ, which means joining our forward looking team, will provide you with a range of career options with a global brand undertaking major transformation.
 
Our team covers all markets in EMEA and you will have the opportunity to work on short term overseas assignments or longer term secondments, providing global opportunities on a huge scale.

Your responsibilities will include:
Building and sustaining trusting relationships with internal clients across Europe by consistently delivering value-add consultancy services, and using key relationships and knowledge of business strategy, trends and key events to identify new consulting engagements.
Responsible for pre-initiation / early life cycle efforts on priority market initiatives”
Define value-focused solutions then provide recommendations, weighing up investment vs. return
Bring structure and order to undefined problems, making them easier to address and solve
Facilitating stakeholders through decisions, consulting them, influencing them and by resolving conflicts and disagreements  get to the right conclusion for the project/programme  to be set up to succeed.
Ensuring all the deliverables are produced  to support the development of an idea into a project proposal (initiation) and that they are of sufficient quality to ensure the project/programme  is successful.
Ensuring scope, options and risks are clearly understood and documented as a project moves from initiation into delivery, as well as defining activities to manage and mitigate the impact of change on the target operating model.
Contributing and demonstrating leadership to develop a positive working environment for all colleagues.
Deliver ideas on time, to budget and in line with customer expectations agreed (through production of a Statement of Work when required)

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Must have worked within a Change Management environment
Deep business domain knowledge of either Retail Banking, Wealth,  CMB , Global Functions and Global Standards or HTS.
Proven experience of leading the delivery of an excellent client/customer service and proactively look for innovative ways to improve the service delivered to our customers
A track record of delivering significant change which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
Proven experience of leading others and creating an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver
Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others, negotiating effectively and winning over audiences with compelling and persuasive presentations
Experience writing Statements of Work, Business Cases, Project Plans and  Target Operating Models
Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively 
Dealt effectively with highly complex commercial information and business challenges to create strategic business plans which effectively deliver resultsThe ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a Global Mind Set, with a strong intellect, but not academic in their approach.
They should demonstrate the ability to build, maintain and navigate the organisation using formal / informal networking skills, with experience in managing others and directing work efforts to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently.
This role will involve travel across Europe for one week in every month so the candidate needs to be able to commit to this level of travel.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong business knowledge and sound business sense, with familiarity and experience of financial services business and governance models. Problem solving and analysis skills are key, as well as requirements gathering, prioritisation and scope definition.
 
Ideally these roles will be based in either Birmingham or Chester
