Job description

The Sanctions Screening Analyst role is based within the Sanction Screening Filter tuning team.

The role of the Sanctions Screening Analyst is to assist in ensuring that the Bank effectively screens transactions against sanctioned entities.

This opportunity will attract candidates who are motivated by working with high profile subject matter and looking to play a key role in ensuring that sanction screening is undertaken to the highest standard across HSBC. High performers in this role will gain exposure to a variety Sanctions stakeholders and further insight to the Fircosoft suite of Sanction Screening products.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Analysing data and suggesting mitigating actions & being part of a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who will proactively implement effective solutions to reduce the number of 'false alerts' generated by the automated screening tool
· Working in a high profile business unit
· Gaining a full understanding of sanctions and how they relate to transactions and ultimately progressing to become a Sanction Screening Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Relevant knowledge of Payment processing; SWIFT is desirable but not essential
·  Experience working in relevant Regulated / Risk orientated / Data analytics environments is desirable but not essential
·  Experience working in Payment Services is desirable but not essential
·  Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Regulated & Control focussed, Risk awareness - is desirable but not essential
·  Understanding of Sanctions and how they are applied is desirable but not essential
·  Past working experience on Fircosoft is desirable but not essential
·  Previous experience of delivering an excellent customer service
·  Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
·  Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
·  Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
·  Experience of planning and prioritising their own time effectively, aware of their responsibilities and committed to delivering these efficiently
·  Supported project teams/managers, showing an understanding of the basic principles of project management
·  A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these
The base location for this role is Castle Business Park, Stirling.
