The Community Mortgage Consultant will be responsible to originate high quality residential first lien mortgage loans that meet HSBC’s credit, compliance, workflow and other rules and guidelines. Counsel customers on various types of mortgage financing available, helping to choose a program best suited to their needs. Work closely with the customer to complete mortgage application, clearly set expectations, thoroughly answer questions, follow through to closing and resolve any problems that arise.

Develop and maintain long-term relationships with community development groups, affordable lending nonprofits, realtors, builders, attorneys, financial advisors and other external sources. Internally, this role will partner with Community Development Officers, Premier Relationship Managers and the Mortgage Originations team. 

As our Community Mortgage Consultant you will:

·  Self-source diverse mortgage applicants, engaging in the local community
·  Originate complete and accurate mortgage applications recognizing that programs may be complex, including closing cost coverage, down payment assistance, and 3 rd party grants
·  Work closely with first time homebuyers who will require extra attention to understand program options, mortgage guidelines and what to expect throughout the process.
·  Partner with community development groups and affordable lending nonprofits to establish referral relationships
·  Exceed customer expectations (both external and internal) at every touch point (phone, email, chat, etc.)
·  Fulfill expressed and unexpressed financial needs of clients

For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $80,000.00 and $95,000.00 

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:  

·  Minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
·  Minimum of 3 years proven community mortgage sales experience with established community-based relationships
·  Established book of business
·  Spanish (preferable)
·  Experience with community loan programs and external/3rd party grant programs
·  Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, as well as highly motivated
·  Strong working knowledge of mortgage products, qualification guidelines and mortgage application documentation
·  Strong knowledge of secondary market guidelines and compliance requirements
·  Strong knowledge with financial products and services as well as pertinent regulations impacting their delivery to customers
·  Incumbents in this role must successfully register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLSR) and must obtain a unique identifier through the registry that will be provided to consumers with whom the incumbent interacts. In addition, incumbents in this role must successfully renew their registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLSR) annually
