Finance is a major function that protects the reputation of the Bank by effective accounting and control and provides timely and accurate financial information, forecasts and advice to senior stakeholders to support decision making.
The function is responsible for external financial reporting to shareholders and analysts, regulatory reporting to regulators around the world, internal management reporting to senior executives, the design and implementation of Group accounting policies, the development and oversight of Finance Systems, and has involvement in Global Finance Change Programmes. The output of Group Finance is high-profile and is produced in a confidential environment to tight deadlines but requiring a high degree of accuracy and robust control in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
The various finance teams consist of high caliber, technically strong individuals, working within a demanding environment. The role requires strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities to be able to operate effectively alongside the highest levels of Management in Finance and in the Group.
Role Purpose:
This is a specialist role in HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (HBME) regulatory reporting team and requires the jobholder to possess a thorough understanding Regulatory Reporting as well as controls, change and transformation experience. The jobholder will need to work independently with minimal supervision in ensuring deliverables are completed within the required timelines. Direct engagement with local key stakeholders (Regional CFO/CRO, business, ALCM, Analytics, Risk etc.)
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Meet all regulatory reporting for PRA and DFSA, both regular and adhoc request.
• Deliver new regulatory reporting and transformation changes (Basel 3 Reforms, Integrity of Regulatory Reporting) and implement system changes.
• Identify process efficiencies to meet accelerated timelines and faster reporting.
• Identify RWA saves for the business to create capacity to grow assist and enhance the revenues.
• The ability to support end to end project planning, analyzing requirements and helping to deliver reporting solutions.
• Work with change delivery programme, supplement programme specific governance where required and drive delivery of programmers.
• Develop and maintain regulatory reports in a reporting application using a change management life cycle.
• Provide support to business and other functions when requested on product treatment, strategic decisions and planning process.
• Able to respond and support Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer requests in a timely manner.
• Exhibit and drive a growth mind-set throughout the team, taking on new challenges to meet Finance’s overall objectives.
• Drive cohesion and deliver initiatives across Finance/the Bank
• Prioritises learning and development in order to build a sustainable team, develop a clear successor and position the team for future challenges.
• Strong interpersonal skills for smooth co-ordination with various individuals at Group and with Regional Senior management team.
• Support the regional finance efficiency agenda through stop/simplify/innovate initiatives.
• Implements and Embeds controls to Integrity of Regulatory Reporting (IRR) standards.
• Maintenance of control standards inside and outside of the reporting cycle.
• Improve the level of efficiency and effectiveness by optimum utilization of best practice processes and systems.
• Ensure accuracy and data integrity in the end-to-end RWA computation process by introducing control checks at various stages of the process.
• Create strong compliance and control culture over all reporting
• This is a specialist role and requires the jobholder to possess a thorough understanding of Basel rules, CRDIV, CRR and other rules published by various regulators.
• The jobholder will need to work independently with minimal supervision in ensuring that all reporting requirements are completed within the required timelines.
• Direct engagement with global teams (GPOs: FRR, RWA PC, B3 programmed) and local (Regional CFO/CRO, business, ALCM, Analytics, Risk etc.)
• Key Finance interface with the regional regulator (DFSA).
Requirements
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
• Subject matter expertise in RWA regulatory reporting
• Graduation degree is REQUIRED– to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
• A strong focus on controls implementation and maintenance
• A growth mind-set focussed on delivering effective and efficient solutions for the good of the Bank.
• Ability to form effective relationships and influence at the most senior level in the organization.
• Communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and change to a wide range of stakeholders.
• A proven ability to lead and deliver change.
• Ability to make robust/tough decisions which may be contrary to the business wishes and ability to prioritize competing demands.
• Excellent analysis skills, with ability to structure problems and find solutions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability understand and interpret code, such as SQL, Python. Beneficial
• Member of a professional accounting body e.g. ACA, CPA. Beneficial.
